Each session includes instruments, props, singing and musical play, supporting your child’s musical and social development and giving parents a chance to meet too.

Co-creation of new music
by young people in Redcar & Cleveland.

Since 2021 we have delivered consultation events and creative projects - children from multiple Primary and Secondary schools have worked with Manchester Camerata, Royal Northern Sinfonia and composer Michael Betteridge.

Benedetti
Foundation

27 April – 1 May 2026

 

Workshops, teacher CPD &

Performance

Days 1-3 the Benedetti team visited 9 primary schools, delivering Key Stage 2 workshops. Pupils took part in body percussion, singing, rhythmic games, teamwork and creative music-making.

 

Day 4 was a full-day programme of CPD for teachers. The Residency culminated on day 5 with a highlight event: a Mass Strings Day with almost 100 young violinists already registered

SNAPPY Music

Ongoing​​​

Free "Big Sing" concerts at

least 3 times per year!

​​

Every term, thousands of children from dozens of schools come together to take part in our SNAPPY mass singing events, performing to delighted audiences of parents and carers. These events get bigger and more vibrant each year, with SNAPPY Christmas remaining the most loved and eagerly anticipated, followed jointly by our SNAPPY Spring (KS1 focus) and SNAPPY Summer (KS2 focus)

Shine Festival

8th - 9th March 2026

 

An inclusive choral festival​ for
School & Community choirs

The Shine Choirs Festival event is open to all singing groups from across the North East. A wide variety of singing groups, of all genres and abilities, take part.  

Day 1 is for Community Choirs. Day 2 is for School Choirs. It provides an open stage and feedback for singing groups across the North East

An opportunity for pupils in
Year 5-8 to take
 
part in high-

quality singing workshops

with leaders at the National Youth Choir!

 

The SING! team will visit multiple schools over 3 days, will provide a CPD offer for teachers, followed by 2 full days of open access workshops where young singers will learn exciting new songs, make new friends and develop their musical skill. 

 

At the final session, there will be an opportunity to audition for National Youth Choir’s residential courses for 9-15 year olds

Music and Drama programme

building on our successful
and award-winning collaboration in 2024, celebrating opera in primary 
schools.

Each participating school receives award-winning teacher training and resources including classroom-based lesson plans and digital activities, with strong Music and cross-curricular links.

Students and teachers gain a better understanding of singing and opera.

Verona & Lake Garda - We

can’t wait to showcase the

remarkable spirit and skill of

the Tees Valley Youth Orchestra on this incredible musical adventure. 

This exciting journey will see our talented young musicians perform in some of Northern Italy’s most inspiring cultural settings, sharing their passion for music with international audiences.

 

Alongside unforgettable concert experiences, the tour will give our players the chance to explore Verona’s rich heritage, enjoy the stunning landscapes of Lake Garda, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
