SAFEGUARDING
& CHILD PROTECTION

As part of Stockton Borough Council, TVMS operates with a strong commitment to safeguarding, ensuring the safety and welfare of children and young people during music education activities. We implement stringent staff checking procedures (DBS), maintain up-to-date safeguarding policies, and provide specialised training to staff - both in person and online - to ensure a secure environment for all learners.

Key aspects of safeguarding at Tees Valley Music Service include:

  • Stringent Staff Vetting: All staff undergo rigorous checking procedures to ensure suitability for working with children.

  • Comprehensive Training: Staff receive regular, up-to-date safeguarding and child protection training.

  • Policy and Procedure: Implementation of strict policies to identify and respond to potential risks to child welfare.

  • Designated Staff: Specific, identified staff members are responsible for overseeing safeguarding concerns.

At TVMS, we prioritise the safety and wellbeing of every student. All teachers hold Enhanced DBS checks. We follow a robust safeguarding policy, overseen by 5 safeguarding leads with advanced training and Stockton Borough Council. We work closely with schools across the region to adhere to their safeguarding policies.
