Tees Valley Music Service – What We Offer Schools

As the lead partner of the Tees Valley Music Hub, TVMS works with schools across Stockton‑on‑Tees, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland to deliver high‑quality music education. We support schools at every stage of their musical journey - from EYFS to KS4 - through curriculum delivery, instrumental tuition, CPD and large‑scale musical experiences.

Curriculum Support & Whole‑Class Provision

TVMS provides complete curriculum support, including:

  • Whole Class Ensemble Tuition at all key stages on a range of instruments.

  • Snappy Classroom – curriculum‑based singing programmes for EYFS, KS1 and KS2, with planning documents and resources.

  • First Thing Music – a 30‑week Kodály‑based singing and movement programme delivered in partnership with class teachers.

Schools also receive classroom reward frameworks, certificates, and digital badges to support the Model Music Curriculum.

Workshops, Events & Enrichment

Schools can choose from a broad menu of musical experiences:

  • Snappy Music 'Big Sings' – free large‑scale singing events involving thousands of pupils each term, complete with free downloadable resources.

  • Bespoke workshops including Samba, Taiko, Steel Pans, African Drumming, Gamelan, Composition, Music Technology and more.

  • Topical workshops (e.g., Christmas, animals, minibeasts) for EYFS–KS2.

  • Rock Factory – electronic music and studio production and

  • World Book Day - pop-up workshops, roadshows & online resources

Support for Early Years

TVMS embeds music across the EYFS Seven Areas of Learning, using singing, play and movement to support communication, confidence, creativity, physical development and early numeracy.
Programmes include:

  • Early Years Snappy Classroom

  • First Thing Music

  • Sing‑alongs and animation resources

  • World Nursery Rhyme Week Pop-ups, Roadshows & Online Resources

Secondary Support (KS3 & KS4)

Secondary schools benefit from:

  • Peripatetic teaching across all major instruments

  • Workshops in Minimalism, Songwriting, Improvisation, GarageBand

  • Free software

  • GCSE and BTEC support

  • Access to 5,000+ scores and a full instrument repair service

SEND, SEMHD & PRU Support

TVMS provides inclusive provision tailored to SEND settings, including:

  • Whole‑class instrumental teaching with adapted instruments

  • Specialist technology such as Soundbeam 6 and Orba

  • Rock Factory workshops and Arts Award pathways

School Development & CPD

To help schools strengthen their music curriculum, TVMS offers:

  • FREE School Music Development Audit (SMDA) – a full review of your curriculum, resources and planning, leading to Music Mark recognition.

  • Support with Arts Award and Artsmark.

  • CPD delivered by QTS music specialists, plus free network meetings for school staff.
