WHO ARE WE?

Welcome to Tees Valley Music Service

TVMS provides high quality music opportunities for children and young people across our four partner authorities of Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland.

We believe that every child should have access to a breadth of opportunities regardless of circumstance or background. We offer music tuition, support and events in a broad range of styles and genres. All of our pupils receive free membership of TVMS ensembles and choirs, ranging from beginner level to advanced bands and orchestras in each area and county-wide.

TVMS see the impact that music has on people and we’re committed to offering our facilities and resources to the wider community. We can provide events and workshops from Japanese Taiko or African Drumming, to Song Writing or rocking out in our Sound Pod facility. Whether you are a church, corporate body or social organisation, allow us to help you create a memorable experience through music.

A lead partner of the TVMS Music Education Hub

Tees Valley Music Education Hub (TVMEH) is a partnership of educational and cultural organisations and practitioners who work together to provide the best possible musical opportunities for the children and young people of the Tees Valley.  It is one of 122 national Music Hubs created in 2012 to deliver the National Music Plan.

Music Education Hubs are groups of organisations working together to create a joined-up approach to music education. They receive central Department for Education funding which is brokered and managed by Arts Council England.

Special Projects

TVMS is also involved in national initiatives and is a key delivery partner in FIRST THING MUSIC.  Since 2018 we have co-developed a teacher training programme with project leader Lindsay Ibbotson and Lucinda Geoghegan, Chair of the BKA Education Committee, and Education Director for the National Youth Choir of Scotland.   BKA trained TVMS staff continue to roll this out to more schools across Tees Valley this year and it is having a significant impact.  For more information go to First Thing Music.
